April 30, 2013 - Badger Mountain Hike

Today I went on a four mile hike, up and down Badger Mountain.  Well, not quite four miles, but still...

I hiked with a visiting friend, and her lovely black lab.  We walked, ambled, occasionally got up to hiking speed, but stopped frequently to look at wildflowers, to watch the birds, to greet our fellow-hikers.  The views from the top of Badger Mountain are wonderful, no matter how you get there...but I always prefer hiking up the west side.  Today the reasons were twofold - I got a great view of the greening fields and vineyards to the west, and the more gentle climb meant a much more gentle descent, which is important for me at this point.  (Downhill is still quite difficult, but today it was much easier than I expected.)

So progress, beauty, the joy of friendship - a good day!
