Green sea turtle
Today was a beautiful day at home. Many things came into bloom, including some of the fruit trees. I now have daffodils in bloom, and the forsythia in full bloom. But...there was no time with the camera. So I thought I'd share a few more photos from the Maui trip, that fit well with a favorite scripture passage.
Psalm 104:25-26: "There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number - living things both large and small. There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there." (NIV)
The psalmist celebrates the glory and the goodness of God's creation with words that have long since lodged in my heart. More than once on this vacation, as we saw whales every day, I shouted "and leviathan, to sport therein!" (An older translation, a bit more poetic, perhaps.) And it worked almost as a cheer, as the whales did aerobatics right out of the water. Breaching, pec slapping, and one quite intense whale that did forty (we counted them) tail slaps in a row. Not sure who he was speaking to, but he obviously didn't want to be ignored. And something else, that I discovered for the first time. Snorkeling while the whales are in the vicinity means you get to listen to whale song, too. Indeed, one place we went they were so insistent, so noisy, it became difficult to focus on much else!
Blessing, blessing, blessing...and I am blessed to be able to go, to see, to swim, to participate. And endlessly, thankful.
