New Rhubarb
Today was mostly cloudy, but warm and still lovely. I ventured out into the garden, to find the forsythia in full bloom, the daffodils getting a good start on bloom, and the apricot tree on the verge of bloom. (No immediate frost in the forecast, thank goodness!)
But what really captured my attention was the vegetable garden. The asparagus has already begun the sprout, the rhubarb is putting forth new leaves, the garlic and shallots are growing like mad, and I have cilantro volunteering all over the garden. (We had some with our pozole this evening. Yum!)
I guess it's actually past time to get the cold weather vegetables planted...but I need to finish pruning roses, first. I might have finished up this afternoon, but instead had the fun of helping my daughter-in-law's mother work on their pruning. We enjoy each other's company, and I certainly enjoyed the conversation. If only I could have climbed up on top of the trellis to do some much needed pruning there...but I think we'll have to get reinforcements for that job. I came home happy and sneezing. Spring is close!
