March 15, 2013 - And One Day Later...

Ice Follies daffodils in full bloom

Apricot tree in early bloom (I need bees!)

And yet another lovely sunset

Today was a lovely day - sunshine, warm temperatures, and plenty of time to do garden work.  I cut a few asparagus spears that went into tonight's stir-fry.  It's wonderful to be able to add things fresh from the garden.  (The chives are ready to be cut, as well.  Time for baked potatoes with all the toppings!)

Mostly today I appreciated mid-day communion, with a wonderful group of people and a wonderful, rich, very sour eight-grain sourdough bread.  I appreciated the taping of my foot yesterday by my physical therapist.  (It didn't hurt nearly as much today.)  And I appreciated an "over the fence" conversation with my next-door neighbors, who were out rustling around in their garden, as well.

Lots of rose pruning got done today.  Actually, I finished the chore, with the exception of my "attack rose", an old, very vigorous single-blooming rose that my grandmother grew in her back yard.  I like to wear a little extra clothing when I tackle that rose - it's a good ten feet tall in places, and has canes that are even longer, with wicked thorns.  The roses?  Beautiful, tiny little baby blossoms.  My mother used them in her wedding rehearsal bouquet.  I was thrilled to be able to grow that rose here, in the desert.  Humans are not the only adaptable critter on this wonderful planet!
